Post War artist Charles Blackman, is considered a major Australian artist.
His work is held in all Australian state galleries, as well as many private collections
and institutions. Throughout his career Blackman has won awards including OBE in 1997; and
has exhibited in galleries such as the Tate and Whitechapel, in London.
From 1953 – 1993 Charles Blackman held numerous solo exhibitions in Australia, London
and Tokyo, as well as a major retrospective at the National Gallery of Victoria.
Charles Blackman is well known for his Alice In Wonderland and Schoolgirl series.
